Meet Sadie: 3 Reasons Why We Love This Modern Restaurant Chair

Launched in 2014 and designed by Joey Ruiter, this collection of modern restaurant chairs and barstools has quickly become a favorite among interior designers. Staying true to Joey Ruiter’s minimal approach to design and functionality, the Sadie Collection balances the modern aesthetic with delicate notes of classical design and influence.

1. beautiful inside & out

Finding interesting outdoor furniture that feels substantial yet isn’t the Tolix chair (or some version of it) can be a bit tricky, especially if you’re looking for something that’s not plastic. That’s why we love the Sadie Collection. It's available in both indoor and outdoor models. Now, your outdoor space can be as inviting and comfortable as any any indoor space.

“Our goal was to create a chair that would look just as good inside as it does outside, allowing designers to create a seamless environment that marries the indoors with the out,” says Jill Frey, Grand Rapids Chair Company marketing director.

Shown above is an excellent example of how one customer simultaneously used the Sadie indoors and out. By adding in a pop of color, they reinforced their brand. Overall, the whole space feels cohesive without being too matchy-matchy.

2. have it your way

Sadie Modern Restaurant Chair for Outdoors

We’re firm believers in the power of personalization. With the Sadie Collection, we have made it easy for you to add your personal touch so that each project feels unique. The classic combination of steel and wood is the perfect blank canvas for your vision. Within seconds you can take this modern restaurant chair from industrial-chic to nordic to tropical, just by simply changing the finishes.

With 23 standard powder coat colors and 16 wood finish options there are endless ways to configure this chair, especially when you factor in our custom color capabilities and the upholstery options!

3. A Hardworking Chair

Your furniture investment should last more than just two to three years. That’s why every chair in this collection has been put through rigorous strength tests designed to mimic the excessive wear and tear that's normal in high-traffic restaurant chains. Did you know that every product in our line is backed by a 10 year standard warranty?

The indoor models are made from 14-gauge steel tube and bent plywood seat and back panels. Our wood top coat is specially formulated to protect the chair from mustard stains, mold, and even french fry grease. The outdoor models are made from stainless steel tubing, which won’t rust outdoors, especially when our marine-grade powder coat is applied in a fun color (and don’t worry, that fun color won’t fade in the sun).
