Brooke Chair in Kona
PARED-DOWN, BUT NOT PLAIN
Designed by industrial designer, Tim Stoepker, the Brooke Collection redefines the modern wood dining chair; it’s big on versatility and small on constraining details. The collection includes a chair, counter stool, and barstool. Each product is made of solid European Beech and can be finished in any of our 16 standard stains. Brooke’s key features include a slatted wood back that’s reminiscent of an Adirondack chair, three dramatically different upholstery variations, and an overall roundness that makes this collection so approachable.
The Brooke Collection marks the first collaboration between Stoepker and Grand Rapids Chair Company. “Grand Rapids Chair gave me a nice balance of creative freedom and structure to create a successful chair for the desired market. I always try to take out as many details as possible to give a strong visual priority to the details that are left. If you confuse, you lose. My hope was to create a chair that has less to dislike,” said Stoepker.
The end result is a collection that can go from a modern fast-casual to fine dining application with a few simple specification changes, something Dean Jeffery, director of marketing at Grand Rapids Chair Company, intended. “We wanted a collection that gave designers some breathing room. Brooke’s details are so minimal and approachable that they transition easily from one space to the other. Great design doesn’t always have to be bold, but rather, provide options be adaptable without becoming stale. Sheer simplicity helps us achieve that.”
LOOK GOOD, DO GOOD
And not only is the chair beautiful and versatile, it also has a powerful purpose behind it. Every time a Brooke product is purchased, Grand Rapids Chair Company will donate $1 to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, a cause very close to many at the company.
The Brooke Collection will be assembled and finished in our Byron Center, Michigan, manufacturing facility.
