Meet Frankie, The Communal Table With A Big Personality

by Dean Jeffery

We're really excited to show you our newest communal table, the Frankie collection. The table celebrates our industrial heritage while espousing a softer aesthetic with an almost nostalgic 80s-like charm. Featuring two over-sized U-shaped steel legs that seamlessly intersect with a solid wood top to create a creative yet aesthetically familiar-feeling form that could almost be called “cute.”

We teamed up yet again with Midwest-based designer, Joey Ruiter (who also designed Harper, Leo, and Sadie II), He drew inspiration from his background in transportation design for this collection of communal tables that exemplifies the softer side of steel fabrication silhouette makes it the perfect canvas for creativity and color,” says director of marketing and new product development, Dean Jeffery.

“Over the span of my career, I’ve designed a lot of tables. In the past I would intentionally push one or two details to spark curiosity, but Frankie is just pure form. The curiosity doesn’t come from a functional perspective, but from the visual. The large scale and proportions of the base are typically used in the automotive and architectural industries. It’s a scale I’m familiar with, but hasn’t been widely used in the furniture world. It creates a product that feels unexpected or even a bit weird, but to me, that weirdness feels fun,” says Ruiter.

Characterized by chunky tubes and soft curves, Frankie has a larger-than-life personality and is available in a wide range of colors and finishes (30 standard powder coat colors, 150 premium powder coat finishes, 16 standard wood finishes, and five wood species) leaving plenty of room for interpretation. The Frankie table’s form is underpinned by an industrial aesthetic: structural grade steel tube and solid wood table tops. However, the rounded corners and sweeping bends feel more approachable.

“We’ve seen the ‘industrial’ trend interpreted in a variety of ways, most of them leaning more toward the grittier end of the spectrum, but with Frankie, we wanted to take a different approach, shifting toward a more feminine, fun direction without losing the durability and function of a strong steel table,” says director of marketing and new product development, Dean Jeffery.

The table is currently only available in dining height (30"),  in 30" or 36" widths and 72", 84", and 94" lengths.

Frankie tables will be manufactured and finished in the United States, available with a standard 4-6 week lead time. The entire collection has been tested to meet and exceed ANSI/BIFMA testing standards and is backed by a 10-year structural warranty.
