Created by Austrian designer, Robert Stadler, Tilly is a comfortable, modern bistro chair that borrows form and language from the classic Bentwood No. 14 chair, which has been a cafe and restaurant staple since it’s debut in 1859.

Stadler wanted to update the cafe classic with a fresh, new approach, which was achieved by exploring a new, pressed plywood back design and by exaggerating the angles of the back legs. The elegant form and comfortable feel makes this the perfect bistro chair that can easily go from casual cafe to classy wine bar.
Crafted from European Beech, this chair, counter height stool, and barstool are available in any of our 16 standard wood finishes and can be specified with or without and upholstered seat. The offset backrest fulfils an aesthetic and functional need by creating a strikingly unique and comfortable back detail.
When discussing the concept behind his design, Stadler notes, "You only have to remember Buckminster Fuller who, with his geodesic domes, was able to achieve maximum stability with minimal use of materials. I used this idea as a guideline, together with the concept of simplifying a curve with a straight line, whilst taking great care to maintain the chair's comfort.”
