Restaurant Design Trend: The Modern Windsor Chair

What’s that quote? “Everything old is new again.”

Like most of us that follow restaurant design trends, we know that style obsessions wax, wane, and ultimately get replaced every season. Good design, however, always stands the test of time. Like white walls and Bentwood Chairs, timeless standbys can be traced throughout history, and their impact, across cultural lines. Each generation reinterprets these elements, but the essence stays the same.

The Windsor Chair, which originated in 18th-century Europe and designed for the Windsor Castle gardens, is no exception.

Hugh: The Modern Windsor Chair

The modern version of this classic design has been stripped of its frills and fuss and given new life as a modern restaurant chair. A combination of clean lines, traditional woodworking techniques, and a reimagined silhouette define this generation of chair.

Our newest chair, Hugh, is a modern Windsor style restaurant chair with a comfortable, wide seat that has been put through rigorous durability testing for commercial use. Available in a wide variety of custom and standard wood finishes, you can make this chair can go from “Farm-to-Table” to “Scandinavian Cafe” to “Urban Taco Joint” in the blink of an eye. Here are a few of our favorite inspiration shots.
