Spotted: An Elegant Take on a Brewpub

by Dean Jeffery

Being from Beer City U.S.A., we have a special fondness for breweries. We’re excited to have our Sadie restaurant chairs featured in the newest brewpub to stake its claim in our hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Enter The Knickerbocker Brewpub & Distillery.

A product of New Holland Brewing Company, The Knickerbocker is one of the classiest looking brewpubs we’ve ever seen. In a brilliant exercise in restaurant branding, the color palette of the interior space is saturated with natural earthy tones that evoke a sense of warmth while still maintaining an inviting, pub-like feel. High ceilings and unique architectural details define this space, but the elegant combination of wood and metal elements add a sense of finesse, instead of the obvious “industrial” aesthetic that people typically associate with breweries today.

The Sadie chair is shown here in a monochromatic look, utilizing our Cocoa wood finish and Sienna metal finish.

As a brand, New Holland Brewing Company has always strived to “celebrate the art of craft” and the Knickerbocker is a perfect example of their mission in action. Metal sculptures, twine wrapped steel beams—reminiscent of their iconic “The Poet” beer label—and their balance of hard and soft truly reflect their brand’s core values and bring the brand to life with grace.
